1978 "Barn find"
My 1978 Midget was found under some guys house in the country. He had let his teenage son abuse the thing for quite some time. The rear end gave out after the yoke seal failed and he ran it dry. I believe every manner of animal had slept in this car while it sat. He was able to fire it up for me, so that was half the battle. I thought, "What the heck..." and bought it for $1,000 with a brand new convertible top. Dragged it home, tore it down, gutted the interior, rebuilt the rear-end, new brakes, lines, calipers, carpeting, wheels, tires, Nardi steering wheel, replaced windshield, custom speedo cable and replaced speedo. It has the 1275 with a 210 4-speed (salivating over a 5 speed), and a Weber conversion with a Pierce manifold. I still need to get the electronic distributor installed. I have not had much opportunity to drive it yet, but I'm anxiously awaiting summer. The carb is getting rebuilt and the crank case ventilation needs to be figured out. That's what you guys are for!
