TR6 1973 TR6 vacuum leaks

What is the best way to check for vacuum leaks using the spray can method. The engine is idling around 2000 rpms will it rise or lower when spraying the areas if there is a leak?
 
It can vary, depending on how the mixture is. But if it changes either up or down, you've found a leak.
