Re: 1973 Jensen Interceptor Mark III does anyone ca

Does it have a six-pack 440?

$2500 might not be bad given the condition of the rest of the car. Got any pics?

Re: 1973 Jensen Interceptor Mark III does anyon

I really know nothing about it other than a phone call,
that it was a Mark 3 and had mag wheels,

its 30 miles from here, I figured if I bought it for $2500 , got it cleaned up and running and could sell it for $4500 then its worth doing,

ummmm something to think about.....

Re: 1973 Jensen Interceptor Mark III does anyon

yep, you could prolly flip it for that. It does have either a chrysler 383 or a 440 in it, and parts (or even complete used/running engines) are cheap and readily available and it'd be worth alot more to someone running.

Re: 1973 Jensen Interceptor Mark III does anyon

This is one of those deals that you don't pass by if the body is solid!

Re: 1973 Jensen Interceptor Mark III does anyon

How do you tell if its a 440 motor, is there a tag somewhere ?

or did all 73s have a 440ci motor ?

were they all automatics too ?

thanks again

Re: 1973 Jensen Interceptor Mark III does anyon

Actually to be correct... The C-V8 Jensen had the 383 engine, and all Interceptors had the 440 engine

Not sure about the C-V8, but I'm pretty sure all Interceptors were built with an automatic, it was designed as a touring-type car (a long drive at high speed) and is not really a true sports car as such.

Re: 1973 Jensen Interceptor Mark III does anyon

Yeah, but what a touring car!

Re: 1973 Jensen Interceptor Mark III does anyon

The Interceptor has a 440. I may have muddled the water here with my CV8 comment. I just happen to have a thing for CV8s (and Rover P6's and TRs and DB5s and Lotus 6's and and and...)

For an engine pic see here:

Oh btw: the prices on ebay are all over the place. A real nice one didn't hit 8k recently (15k reserve) and a dog was 7.5 when I stopped looking with a few days to go.

Re: 1973 Jensen Interceptor Mark III does anyon

IMO, the convertible is less desireable! The top hydraulics are Chrysler (not a *bad* thing), but the electrics to support that are a nightmare: enuff Lucas relays undre the trunklid to supply a warehouse! "UP" and "DOWN" ones, "STOP" ones for limits in both directions... times two. May as well stare at a plate of spaghetti as study the wiring diagram. Quite a challenge to troubleshoot.

Re: 1973 Jensen Interceptor Mark III does anyon

There was a time when you could ship your Intercepter back to the factory & they'd do a complete refurbish/upgrade for you....I always thought all factories should offer that service.

Re: 1973 Jensen Interceptor Mark III does anyon

Ok, if they all had 440's in them, there is/was an upgrade of that the "six-pack", with three 2 barrel carbs. that option (if original) would add about 15-20% to the value of the car.

Re: 1973 Jensen Interceptor Mark III does anyon

I don't believe any of the Jensens were factory Six Packs. Of course, that's an easy swap, but I've never heard of that as stock.

Electricals are big on Interceptors. Convertibles are bringing big money, but the coupes can be tough to sell.

It's very easy to get buried in one. If it's $2500, and not running, you need to figure out why it doesn't run. (If the engine is bad, that can be a big expense.)

Well I tried to see it today but never got together with the guy,,,,,

Re: 1973 Jensen Interceptor Mark III does anyon

Take a look at the Mk2 on Ebay - 4614714937
It might give you an idea of the going rate when you get the final price.

Actually the MkI and MkII Interceptors had 383s too. Almost all were 3spd autos - a handful in the UK had a 4spd. Interceptors are great cars IMO but they had issues with rusting and have a reputation for being quite expensive to restore ...

Re: 1973 Jensen Interceptor Mark III does anyon

This one is in California, so if there is rust it will not be much compared to USA East coast or Europe ,

I guess if I was a dreamer then the one on Ebay.UK that ended at $20,000 would make me smile ,

but the other local one on ebay is only at $1000 with a $9000 buy it now

UMMMM
