Hi, I am posting for the first time. I just bought a 1970 Midget here in Ottawa (home town) It is currently not running. The previous owner had started prep to paint. The Body and mechanicals are all great. It has about 67000 miles on it. Yesterday I was reading through the forum and came across reference to a magazine and its web page that was doing a restoration on a Midget. Does anybody have the link. If I remeber it is the same yr as mine. Tell me how to post a few pics of the new addition and I will do that next time. Thanks

Sounds like Johnny Cash's Cadillac, Trevor. [smiley face thing that I don't know how to use here]

You can post add pictures as attachments (limited by size). You can also upload them to the rides gallery. Or if they are hosted elsewhere you can embed them in a post using the URL and the forum's image tag.

Thanks Trevor, I am joining that page

Looks like you have your work cut out for you. I need to find some pictures of my basket case when I brought it home. Interesting color on that engine block. (it makes me giggle).

What job are you going to tackle first?
Is this going to be a rolling restoration or a total disassemble/rebuild?

Actually the car needs to be sanded and painted and reassembled. The car has newer, and no rust, fenders , and rockers, floors are solid no rust, new shocks , new clutch a, new brakes front and rear, new rear springs, new seats, convertible used 2 or 3 times, newish carpets, new filters installed, new tires, new door seals. It is not concourse, but it is very very nice. ..my brother in law is a painter for a local Chrysler dealer, and I only paid $800 for her!!!

Sounds like you're all set! This forum is a great asset for questions not well covered in the manuals. Hope you'll stick around. I'd love to watch the progress.

BTW, what color is the car going to be?

You stole that car. Very good buy indeed.

COLOUR HMMM As you can see from the pic it is the dark BRG. That would be nice, but as I said my brother in law can basically get me free Chrysler paint...any suggestions??

Are you wanting a color that would be close to something of the period of the car, or just something that looks good on a little car?

Welcome Woodie,

I can't open the pics, but it does sound like a steal.

can i have both, a colour that looks good on a little car and close to an original,,,,I think the dark Chrysler green might be ok, that would cause less issues in hard to reach areas where the old green and the new paint may live side by side. I had not planned on doing the engine bay yet.

I did mine one section at a time. I wish I had stripped it to a bare tub and sprayed everything at one time. But at the time I didn't realize how simplistic these cars are.
Even though it is a Chrysler shop they can probably mix any color that you can get a code for.

Mine is 2002 Aston Martin British Racing Green. Originally my car was white, and red, and blue, and green. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Woodie, I agree with you about the green, if you are not going to do the engine compartment, trunk etc.

Welcome Woodie.

Dark green looks great on Spridgets! (see below)

Welcome to MG world Woodie. These guys have been known to answer questions before you ask.
Any shade of dark green is good,as has been said.My '78 will one day be all over Brooklands Green,it's kinda blotchy right now. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif
