I've had the week between Christmas and New Years off so I've made some good progress on putting my 1970 MGB back together. For you that are unfamiliar with my car, I stripped it this time last year to have it painted but discovered rust in the sills. I taught my self to weld and replaced both complete sills and floor plans and have slowly been putting it back together. Here is the latest...
I finished the engine bay, new braided fuel lines and chrome acorns on the heater pipe and t-stat housing. I also added gas hood struts (VERY COOL!). Last February (when I thought it would be a simple repaint) I had my split bumpers re chromed. I was thrilled when I finally got them back on the car. I also used all chrome overriders, which I thought was a nice non-stock mod. I finally, got the doors hung. Tho' it looks simple, it was many hours of fiddlin' to get them so the gaps are OK (still not 100% pleased... oh well!)
My next project is the windshield. I've got new glass and rubber from Macgregor. I want to polish it to a mirror finish. Last night I sanded it with 400, 800, then 1000 grit sand paper and removed most of the anodizing. Today I'm putting them on a polishing well. I'm still undecided if after the polishing should I seal them.
