1969 Sunbeam Alpine coupe glovebox lock removal

Hi everyone. First of all let me say I am not the owner of the car in question and in fact haven't even seen it yet.

What I do have is the glovebox from a 1969 Sunbeam Alpine coupe. It has a split in the walnut veneer which I hoping to be able to repair. In order to do that I need to get the lock off so I can press it flat.

I have searched this site and everywhere else I can think of and haven't found anything about this specific model or even a lock from another make or model that looks similar.

As the photos show, there are two long screws that I have removed that open up the mechanism on the inside but still don't let me take the rest of the internal parts off.

My guess is that the ring around the cylinder may be the part that holds it through the hole in the wood, but I can't see any way to get it off. If I rotate the inside parts back and forth the outer ring moves with them. I suspect that it may be threaded, but I'm not sure enough to try to force it to turn since I don't want to be back here asking where on earth I might locate another whole lock. The finger pull moves slightly in relation to the rest and appears to be held in place by the ring too.

I do not have the key, but after carefully looking at the lock, I'm pretty sure it would not come off even if the cylinder were removed.

In a forum on this site for another make, someone mentioned a set screw in a similar ring which then unscrewed it after loosening that, but there doesn't appear to be anything like that here.

I've asked a few people for thoughts on re-glueing the veneer and when I mentioned the model, two non-car guys so far have said "oh, that's the rare one." Of course that's what the owner told me too! That sort of ups the pressure to get this right, but I'm afraid it also limits the number of people who may have encountered this problem. I can't even find a dealer who stocks parts for this year, so the forum is my best hope for a solution. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.
