Hi Bill -

Skip down a couple of lines to the Spridget list. They will help you sort out your concerns. BTW, there is a great British Car Club not far from you, and they have tech sessions just about every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Google Southwest Florida British Car Club.

I winter in Bonita Springs with at least one of my LBCs.

three days and no one here knows about the vin???? what kind of forum is this?????

thanks John, seems your the only one with some type of reply,
well, thanks all the others,,,, for nothing, Im out,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

You are on the wrong forum- this is the "Big Healy" forum. The Spridget forum is for Sprites & Midgets.
If you post on the correct forum you will get plenty of (correct) answers.

Hi Bill, welcome to the forum.
As others have said, our Austin Healey Sprite cars are known as Spridgets, which include the Sprites and the MG Midgets.
We have a very active forum and it is listed downstairs in the list from the Big Healey forum, which you are on.

Your 1968 Sprite was manufactured in June of 1968 and is known as a Mk1V Sprite. The U in the Chassis # is for cars exported to North America, and the G is for units built at Abingdon. I am not sure what the 1 at the next to last digit is for. Your vehicle came equipped with a 12CD engine (1275 CC)(serial tag found on the top of the engine, on the edge of the cylinder head, next to the generator). The Mk1V was made from October 1966 to October 1969. Your car is one of 5842 made for Left Hand Drive exported to North America.
Cheers,
Scott in CA
