Hey there I was hoping that someone could help me with the colour Schemes of the 1967 MKII cortina GT. I have just purchased one and it needs a paint job. I would like to put it back to original. If you know, or know of a good web site which has the info please share the details and I will be very appreciative.

Thanks All,

CptnVivo.

I had one - a silvery grey colour that flaked off! I guess you won't be wanting that one...sorry I can't help, but good luck. I was fond of that car.

Silver Grey is probably "Mink" one of my favorites.

The '67 is of course the best year of MK II GT, due to the trailing arms which were dropped for 1968. There is a Cortina "Group" at:

Cortina-List@lotus-cortina.com

I would try there, there are some very knowlegable people there.

I would also highly recommend that you join NAEFR (North American English & European Ford Registry) That is IFHP@aol.com

Where is your Cortina, and what is it like? I also have a '67 GT 2 door and a '68 4 door GT for that matter. I really like it, . What color interior do you have? Most GT's I see are white, called "Ermine" there was a tomato juice red color too, and a BRG. Probably more. I think I have a resoration manual at home with paint codes, but I'm not sure. I'll be home in a couple weeks for a couple days.

I'm with you on the color scheme, but only as far as keeping it consistent with the era of the car, ie no wild big metal flakes, or neon type of paints. I think these cars look awful with some of the high impact colors that are available these days.

I myself wouldn't worry too much about originality, unless it was a lotus Cortina, or something with some serious value. Just pick a color you really like that suits the car.
