Hi Bundyrum,
Thank you, the tough part was just matching the other front flare. Trying to beat metal /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hammer.gif into the same compound curve is something I’ve never done. Thankfully, it worked out OK. The rear fenders are flared a little less and the whole dogleg tapers out an inch at the rocker panel. Here’s a photo to clarify.

Hello GregW, that fender looks very nice also. You have done a great job for someones' first and second attempts. The secret with bodywork is to allow and take plenty of time to do the job and if you are unsure of how much time to allow, then allow more time than you did (you can never spend too much time on bodywork) . If you do get frustrated with it (and it's easy to do) then walk away and do something else different.
 
Sound advice. I just ticked over the 5 year mark on this restoration. Am I allowing enough time? I don’t want to be too hasty. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
 
Hello, I use Kuhmo on my 1972 Alfa Romeo, they are great affordable tires, and I use them to "burn" rubber on track days ( to save the Yokies A048 street slicks for a better days). I have read tests, and they conclude that Kuhmos ok. I don`t know Power Star 758. On my Healey I am very satisfied with my Vredestein Sprint Classic.
 
Hello GregW, i don't see anything wrong with taking that amount of time. It probably means you have had plenty of time away to do other things like lead a semi "normal" life maybe.

wana,how are you?i also got the vredesteins-185/70/15,they give a great ride lots of holding around tight corners etc,my only problem with them is unless i raise the wooden block on the bulkhead that normaly holds the spare tire down,it wont fit in the trunk [boot]excuse me!with the metal hold down rod and belt,i have to place the tire in the center of the trunk in order to close it,is that your experiance as well?

Anthony, that's cause you have the 185 instead of the 165, which was the size tire the boot [trunk] excuse me! was made to hold. I actually put a 155/15 in for the spare to make sure there was plenty of room. My old 165/15 rubbed on the boot lid, and made it look bad. The 10 mm made all the difference in the world. And the dog collar works just great!
 
shg,i realize the larger size accounted for it not fitting in ,but i was wondering if "wanna" did the same thing i did,[moving the block up] on the "boot" bulkhead.and yes your "buddy" did get the fifth dayton wheel and tire for my spare after only 7 months!thats why i just found out about it not fitting in its normal position.the dogy collars are wonderfull,now i can take my crockagader belt out and use it again with the matching shoes,purse,and watchband!im sure you have a lovely son,but if ya keep tellin him "the car will be yours when my numbers up"it might be up sooner then you think!also did you get the permission to spend 50 grand on your car in writting? you of all people should know to do that.nice to hear from ya,glad you found a source your happy with,let me know when ya gunna do your interior,i know this guy-------just kidding! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Spare... what spare?? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif No, seriously, during the acquisition of my new wheels and tires my CFO (wife) decided to limit the purchase to four so I still have an old 165/15 in the boot. Thanks for the tip on moving the wood block though, just in case I get a new spare in the future...

things are going pretty smooth right now. I'm real happy with the stuff I've gotten, and everything is fitting together the way it should. I need to get some OEW touch up paint to start cleaning up a few of the little stone chips, and then detail it in the spring. As for the $50k, as long as she thinks that BJ prices are for real, I'm looking good. If I ask her to put it in writing, she'll smell a rat right away.
