Quit waffling Tony. Will you sell one of your cars or not. Be specific. I hate it when people can make up their minds.

hehehehe.....was talking with my son-in-law (a lawyer like my daughter) today at lunch & asked him how I word my will to ensure all my cars remain in Jerri's care (my wife) & then Shannon's (my daughter) after my demise until my grandson reaches the age of maturity & can take ownership....I don't want either of them to be able to sell one of my cars but I want Will (grandson) to be able to use them with their permission until he graduates from college....then, he can take title to them.

And sell them all for a black civic turbo with spinners and neon underbody lights...

Nah, Wii - and then he'll play Classic British Motor Racing

:wall:

After 40 years of working on...and owning more VWs than I can count, the unmodified are nice but after a while get boring. We do the two-tones, bigger engines, freeway flyers and other things to keep interest in this hobby. Its no diferent than doing mods on a vintage A to make it more drivable on the modern highways. When you can take a 59 bug like the one we're finishing now, drive it at 75mph all day long and as soon as you stop have someone come up and compliment you on the paint, interior etc...its worth all the work.

VW's....
Anyone remember the Inch Pincher.

My first dealership after coming back from Europe as a Formula Three wrench was at Joe Vittone's EconoAutoCenter.

worked under and then with(different departments) Darrell Vittone... Now there were some SERIOUS engine work going on there.

The few times ours has been out on the road, people chased me down at red lights & parking lots wanting to buy it....heck, the VW dealer sent his sales manager out trying to buy it once - he made all sorts of offers on new VW's....wife explained it would never be for sale but she thanked him for putting such a high value on it!.

next Sunday is VW Classic in Irvine , Californis , June 8th

biggest show in the country I would think ,

1000s of VW on show and in the parking lot ,

see ya there

Cool link to the Inch Pincher. I remember the more distinct paint job on the "Inch Pincher Too" tho.

Somewhere along the line, I picked up two of the Inch Pincher plastic models. Both unopened, unbuilt...still in the boxes. I have numerous others as well as a huge collection of Matchbox, Hot Wheels and many, many other things. Some are very old and rare..I wanted to display them but with hundreds of things it would mean I'd have to add on to the house. I'll probaly end up trying to get pictures of the whole lot and go hunting for a serious collector.

Hehe, I remember the Inch Pincher!! As I recall they were getting something like 200 hp out of the VW engine!! My first car was a '56 oval window, the first car I ever turned a wrench on! It was a great starter car. I inherited it from my dad after it had been in the family for years, originating in Cyprus, driven across Europe and shipped to the States. I kept it for years until it was "totalled" from behind by a drunk insurance agent! I sold the "remains" to a buddy (and used the proceeds to buy my first BE) who stripped it and made an early buggy out of it. We learned to drive with "brio" on the oil-lease roads in the backwoods of western Pa. with it. It lasted for years in that form!!!

Well the 65 bug may be sold. As soon as the new inner and outer door scrapers get here I'll do the paint work on the drivers upper door window frame and all will be finished. Actually hate to part with it as its fun.....and I've yet to put gas in the thing after filling it up on the way back from Ruidoso two weeks ago...one guy wants it for his 15 year old grandaughter in San Diego...another guy wants it for his 15 year old som here in town.

Cars don't stay around your place long, do they?

If I kept everything I bought...I'd be single and living in one of them. Yesterday I was at a local salvage yard when the owners son pulled up in his roll-back truck with two Honda GL1000s strapped on. One is a 75 with 25koriginal and the other a rough 78...but complte. They now reside in by shop surrounded by MGs and other cars. Within 20 minutes the 75 was running. Needs a battery and a serious bath and I hope to have it sold today or tomorrow. Has all the front fiberglass fairing, windscreen, rear bags and trunk box with backrest...pretty slick machine.
