TR4/4A 1963 Triumph TR4

I tried many methods found online, but none worked, so on the evening two days before Triumphest, the transmission came out.
You make it sound so easy. It just came out? As someone now a bit over 70, I’d like to know how your experience was removing that transmission. You most certainly pulled it separately, and from the interior? Did you do it alone? How did your back hold up? When you were finished, did you appear to need a bit of a bath? Would you say the experience was enjoyable?
 
It came out easy enough, I pulled it out myself through the interior. My son helped me get it back in. Everything on the car is extremely greasy, so it was a dirty job. Removing both of the front seats along with the long floor mats and putting down cardboard helped mitigate the mess. I did wipe the transmission case down before putting it back in.

The non-overdrive 4 speed is not heavy, and can be done solo, but it would be better to have two people. I always have a harder time getting them back in than out. There was a fair amount of lowering the engine up and down to find the right angle.

I hope you had a few choice words for him after he let the auction run on and wanted to get more money from you by splitting the difference between your agreed price and the highest bid. Would he have agreed to doing the split if it was the other way round and you had paid more than the highest bid? I think not.
