hehehehe....it had just come out of the pressure washer...

I've gotta give Miss Agatha a run for the money this summer!

He can probably reach the clutch now. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Actually, I'm jealous. Tunebug is still all in one piece (mostly). I've still got that disassembly work ahead of me.

Re: 1963 Midget Update

I noticed that he didn't remove the springs... I guess Jack's adventure frightened him.

Re: 1963 Midget Update

Just got back from the body shop - they've now acid washed the engine compartment & undercarriage....I poked around up underneath in the wheel wells, etc with screwdrivers & putty knives.....

No rust back there, Donn - everything's solid though I did find a little rust in the passenger front wheel well while I was poking around (about 3" long by about 3/4" wide).

Yep, Trevor, saw no reason to take the springs off...they're rolling it over on its side to finish cleaning the undercarriage & prepping it for paint...we'll finish the undercarriage first then the trunk (which a PO painted black!) & engine compartment....most of the undercoating came off with the acid washing - they'll hand clean what's left....we'll paint the springs black at that time.

Re: 1963 Midget Update

Well, Nial - this is the result of the ultimate "might as well's"!!

All I really wanted to do was change the clutch...but, while the engine was out I decided the engine compartment needed freshening - & there were those luggage rack holes on the trunk lid & the antenna hole I didn't like....&, since this summer is the "50th..." show in Missouri, I figured I'd give it a new coat of paint...&, so long as everything's out I might as well refresh the engine for the fun drives all over Missouri...& the brakes could use renewing...& suspension...

....and....

...and...

...and this was a good looking, fun driving, running car!!

Re: 1963 Midget Update

24 January....Stopped by Body Shop

The little areas of rust I found have been cut out & new metal welded in place...they're welding up all the non-factory holes I pointed out & are straightening obvious dings & dents in preparation for sanding the entire body...it has pieces of tape in some new places (couple of fenders say "Bowed Out" & rear top says "Wavy")...he found where an "A" post was repaired in the past & wants to redo it so I'm taking him a repair panel I had on the shelf.

...& they've got the dash cleaned & the PO's homemade holes almost welded up with plugs.

(Oh, they were also spraying an MGA today while I was there!)

Re: 1963 Midget Update

Very nice Tony! How long are they thinking until you get to bring her home?

Re: 1963 Midget Update

Miss Agatha goes up on the sixth so I am sure it will be out by then.

Re: 1963 Midget Update

Well, I just came back from there - I authorized them to remove the passenger front fender & passenger door to cut off & replace the "A" post skin...they'll do that tomorrow.

Yep, Jack, we hope to have it ready to bring home by the time you get there - or else it gets put on the back burner while they work on Miss Agatha!

...& glad you're coming on the 6th so at least I'll get to show you my TD on the 7th...we're heading out of town early on the 8th.

Re: 1963 Midget Update

Oh good, looking forward to it. Plan to leave early on the 6th so we can maybe markup Miss Agatha with some blue tape.
