Spitfire 1962 Spitfire, Hood parts &installation info

I would appreciate any help with the parts necessary, besides the hood itself, to install a hood, (convertible top on a MK1 spitfire. I believe the front of the hood clips under the lip on the windshield moulding. Are there metal strips in the front of the hood to allow this? If so, where could I puchase these. If they are not available what are the dimensions to fabricate them. Also what facilitates the attachment of the hood to the rear deck? I have two clips present on the deck in front of the boot lid, but is there a bar or series of bars necessary on the hood for this attachmrnt other then snaps. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Bill in Missouri

The rear of the top is held in place by a series of snaps and two retaining bars sewn into the top, which slide under the two clips you have on the panel behind the cockpit. A new top, or used, should have retaining bars already sewn in just below the rear window to secure the top at the back. I can't remember if it is the same for the front of the top, or if it is a separate bar that slides into a slot in the front of the top to secure it to the top of the windscreen. I would expect Nigel at SpitBits, or Scott, at Team Triumph, to be able to help you with what you need.

There is a bar that will slide into a pocket at the back of the top to catch the clips on the body. A new top will not come with the thin pieces required for the front. They will slip into a pocket at the front of the top then slip under the top header plate. There will be three pieces. One long two short. I will look tonight and see if I have some spares..... I will also click a pick and email if you like.

Bill,

Do you have the frame for the soft top?

Scott

Thank you for your assistance with this. Do new tops come with the attachment bar for back?
If not too much trouble a picture would be helpful. Thanks again.

Scott,
Yes, I have the frame, but that is all I have. Have Never seen one all together. So, have very little idea on the assembly.
