1961 Austin Healey 3000 BT-7 4 sale

If truly rust free looks like a find, good basis for a full or running restoration, or fix the brakes and change the rubber and fluids and have fun with it.

There's no price listed. That almost always means that they want a stupid-high price for it. They watch a Barrett-Jackson auction, see one sell for $143,000, and figure that their's must be worth at least half of that! I don't even call when they don't list a price. It's a waste of time.

It's only an $80,000 restoration away from being worth $50,000.

Same here, but you must be getting your restorations done cheap. Only $80,000?

Reid, you are probably right about the price, but you never know until you ask. I helped a gent with a low miles, rust free, "barn fresh" bn2 a couple years ago and he let it go for about 20k.

The guy seems to have good taste in cars, looks like there is an early 911 and a BMW 2002 in the background.

Here's another interesting one for sale, and it's already up to $38,000.

They represent it as a possible one-owner BT7 with no known damage. But as I look it over, I'm beginning to wonder if any two parts are from the same car.

BN4 engine?
BJ8 chassis?
hardware store floors
not sure about rear shroud, but it ain't stock BT7

I hope the buyer never does any research or joins a club. They'll be sick...

It is always a shame to see what looks like a decent car abused by sitting in a barn uncovered for so many years. What a mess. And I wonder why the guy has the rear end jacked up in the pictures? Note the floor jack holding up the rear end...

And Gregory, I think you are right about the eBay car having a BN4 engine. And certainly the tail lamps are from a later BJ8 PII car, but I don't know if the shroud itself is different?

That's an early BT7. Shouldn't it be a side-shift?

I've bought and sold Healey's on ebay but always go by "caveat emptor" and the blue over white one is surely one where that is applicable. Good eyes Gregory !

I couldn't resist calling the seller, a dealer, who was unaware of the irregularities with this car. I suggested he include a statement about those things in his ad, so anyone plopping down big money at least knows what they are getting.
Workmanship looks good, and everything is Healey, sort of. Done for yourself, you could enjoy the car. But to buy it when correct examples are out there at similar prices, you'd feel cheated when the truth came out.
This is the car on eBay that GregoryW mentions.
