1961 Alpine Series II

I have a shot at buying one of these, 97,000 miles with a hard top. Owner describes it as "original *bubble* top". New rocker panels and paint 10+ years ago, owner describes the paint as a good ten footer. The car is a good, strong runner.

Asking price is $5,500.

Any thoughts? I am thinking it's a good price but what do I know?

Thanks guys, in advance.

Oh, yeah - early Alpine with REAL fins! I can see you in that one, Steve. You can tear up the hillside like 007 in "Dr. No"!

Seriously, though, the Alpine is one of the as-yet undiscovered LBC's, probably overshadowed by the Tiger. Very nice lines, indeed. Don't have a clue as to proper pricing, but then it's always subjective to a degree, isn't it?

I know of one in a basement that has been sleeping for years. The owner bought it while in England, drove it there for a while, then brought it here. Absolutely original condition. He's keeping it for his son, but I'm not sure he really wants it. If not, I may have to chat with him...

Check out the prices on Ebay.A couple of nice alpines are listed.may give you an idea.If car is very nice other than a 10 foot paint job it may well be in that price range.

Seems a bit high to me but I make no claims being a pricing expert. Most of the family tells me I've graduated frugal and are now cheap. Know of one that sold on Ebay for about $1000 less that turns out to be a nightmare car with title and registration problems. He thought it was a good value until...

Good luck whatever you do!

It doesn't have a good interior, it's "custom" and looks pretty naff, so I shall pass on this one. Even a rough but original interior would have been acceptable, but this would be a complete re-do, even down to the door cards!
