Looks like a really nice BE until you see the photos of the bottom side. At that price!

That's quite a premium for such a car.

Makes you wonder if eBay isn't feeding liquor to bidders like at Barrett-Jackson. :thirsty:

High bidder is new with zero feedback......I doubt very much that this car is really sold. I could be wrong, but we'll probably see it relisted in a few weeks.

That is a nice Bugeye but not that nice. I know of a few that can top that easly and I not talking about Miss Agatha.

Good catch! I didn't notice that...

Looking at the high bidder's 30day history shows that he has placed 116bids on some 39items, but still no feedback?? Sounds awfully flakey to me....

Bidder #2 was at $17K, not a small chunk of change either...

Yeah!

Did anyone see that BugEye that sold this year on tuesday in Scottsdale for $20900.00?
Old English White w Red Interior (don't tell Jack...)
Had a Weber carb & a Mona Lita steering wheel installed, but the stock SUs & the stock wheel were also included.
Claimed to be "one of the nicest in the country"...

(I've gotta confess, I do have a desire to go there one year and "pretend" to bid on a car or two... you know, do the whole look it over one last time on the stage thing & all... BUT KNOWING MY LUCK I'll put a $50K "fake" bid on a car and that'll be where the bidding STOPS!! Then I'll be on the evening news as the guy arrested at the BJ auction that day.... Maybe I'll just be satisfied with watching on TV.)
(THAT SAID, there were a few "bargains" to be had there this year. Not as many "deep pockets" this year I guess...)

"CHEERS!"

Thank you Ed. I appreciate that comment.

Prices of specialty automobiles, (and these are specialty cars), can be within a whole range of figures. It's all in the eye of the beholder and his or her wallet to what ever a car is worth. I think the car was beautifully done, has no road rash and probably looks better than when it was new. I hope he gets the 21K for it. These cars are getting more valuable as time passes. Let us not degrade the asking price of a fine car because our wallet or taste doesn't fit the picture. It's a shame for the restorer, but this happens quite frequently. Sorry but, JMHO. PJ

Paul, I don't think anyone is really degrading the seller, we're just offering our opinions based upon our experience with these cars. No one has been rude, for example.

And, some of us may be considered "experts", or at least reliable sources of information on LBCs. Not me, really, but I must confess I've been in this hobby for a long time and may have some valuable knowledge to some folks. Certainly if spending tens of thousands of dollars in resto costs qualifies one as a "knowledgeable source", then I'm that. :cryin: :yesnod:

We're all here to gain knowledge, and in order to do so sometimes requires opinions. It's rudeness or inappropriate remarks that curdle the custard, so to speak. None of that here, IMHO.

I think most of us just find it odd that they did not finish the undercarriage on an otherwise nicely restored car. It just makes it look unfinished and if they overlooked something as mundane as the underside of the car, then what else was "cheaped out" on?

And most importantly about the unfinished undercarriage, if the FRAME is not restored, not good.

Right. It even looks like there might be some rust in one of the suspension photos.
