Greeting from a wet and cool Northern Ca.
Mangaged to get a few things done today.

1. Pulled the motor and trans.
2. Packed up the motor and sent it to my brother in So. Cal (360 miles) to gone over. Could not get it to turn over. Clutch etc look good, just needs some cleaning.
3. Pulled the old fuel tank. What a mess! A fiberglass patch and lots of rust in the tank. It sat in the elements without a gas cap.
4. Tried to pull the steering wheel after having put penetrating oil on it for 3 days. No luck --- used the hammer and pull method described. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwf2BDC5DMo no luck. Need some new ideas!!!!!!!!
5 Penetrating oil on the rear axel nuts and bolts. Hope to remove it and the front suspension in the next few days. Things look pretty good at the spring connections - no visable rust!
6. Plan to strip the car down completely, put it on a stand and restore the bits then move on to the body work.
Pictures later.

Paul

Paul,

Good to hear that you're working on it.
Did you see the Triumph 2000 on craigslist last week?

- Doug

Doug
I did not see the 2000. Is it still listed. There is one listed on e-bay (needs work - but a good start). I also got a set of B/E SU carbs on ebay this week.

Paul, did you get the heat shield with the carbs? The one for the H1's is different than the HS2's, as is the linkage.
Jeff

Just a little taste of the progress I'm making. I blasted and repainted rims and new tires/tyres were picked-up today.

Lots of other things done, but I'll hold off showing them until all the bits are completed. Progress; even a little bit, keeps me plugging along on the rusted frog!

Paul

The suspense is killing us.

Looking good Paul. I'm in the process of restoring my '59
BE. It's always takes longer and costs more...that's a truism we all know.

APBOS,
What tires did you buy? I am about to buy new tires for my BE and am just begining to shop for them.
Thanks,
Charlie

I followed Jacks lead and got 5 P155/80R13 tires at the local Pep Boys this week, they were on sale. Don't let them balance and mount them for you with out a quote (they wanted $92 for that service)!

Paul
P.S.
Should have som pics on Saturday, I have the next 3 days off.

$92 is highway robbery!

Oh my god, $92 bucks is more than I paid for two tires.

Four tires goodyear same as above $160 mounted and balanced.

It's Saturday and I went to the garage to get some pics of the work so far and a few for John M.

Got the car in Aug 07. Current status:

The motor has been rebuilt (Bored over, new pistons rings etc) and painted. Transmission is being gone over. Both are being done by my brother and myself.

All the required and missing parts have been sourced.

All the removable bits have been taken off the car and media blasted.

New tires, put on painted rims.

Currently painting and restoring those loose bits.

Body work when completed.

Oh boy, that looks like fun.

Beautiful - but is that the correct color for the top bows?

& how'd you do the manifolds?

& what color did you use for your fan?

Top bows are gray Tony.

That's what I thought also, Jack!
