We are looking to buy a copy of Sports Car Illustrated for 1958 in which the 1958 Sprite was reviewed. Sorry, don't know the month, but I believe it would be from May on to Dec.

Thank you

Brian Powers

You would not believe what I finsished boxing up and put in deep storage last month!!!!I have almost all HotRod, Rod & Custom, Car Life, Sports Car, Karting World, Kart, Cars, Racing Karts, and dozens of other mag collections from early 50's to 80's. There were about 17 boxes with over 200 issues in each. Got tired of them getting damaged and misplaced. I almost tossed a few of the issues covering Brit cars aside. Maybe in another 20 years, I will get brave and dig them out again. Very interesting reading. I get a kick out of someone that discovers something totally revolutionary that was common practice 50 years ago.

Terry,

I've been looking for a Hot Rod annual/special that has a lot of collored pictures of custom cars and drag cars including the streamlined dragsters. I bought it on the way to camp in the mid to late sixty's. If you know the issue I'm talking about I need more details in order to locate a copy. That one issue got me started down the car path.

Thanks, Phil

I don't have the magazine but I am pretty sure that I have a copy of the article that I can scan in and transmit.

I may have found one. Is it from June 1958? The one we're looking for has: 1958
“On first look you feel as if you would like to pat it on the head-if it had one to pat,” …It pounces around in traffic like a playful kitten, goes when it’s told and stops when it’s bidden. Its steering is the sort of think automobile writers dream about and seldom experience even on purebred racing machinery. Light withal, it gives a definite feeling of utter reliability, and only three days after the Austin Healey Sprite was introduced, a car appeared in Class H Production at Put-In Bay, Ohio.”

Quite a review. If it isn't this one we would love to have a copy and the date it came out, if it is, wait until the one we bought arrives. Thanks so much,

Brian & the girls
