Hello Everyone

let me introduce our 1958 Meadows Friskysport to the forum of Other British Cars. It was built in Wolverhampton England at the Henry J Meadows factory that made engines and transmissions. They have a fiberglass body with a tubular frame, a 16-hp Villiers 3T 2 stroke, 2 cylinder, 324cc motor. Our car is a left hand drive made for the USA market and also has the detachable tail that was used in early production. Stanly Arnolt of Bristol-Arnolt, MG-Arnolt and other cars was the importer of our car. The FriskySport went into production in 1958 and was latter joined by the Frisky Coupe, Frisky Family Three (hardtop with 3 wheels), Frisky Prince and a one off Frisky Sprint. Production of all Frisky models ended in 1961. As of now only 14 FriskySports are know to be left with 4 in the USA.

Fantastic! Welcome! Does the door in the pic continue the errr ummm "fine British Tradition" of door gaps, fit & finish? :D

JP, That's built in ventilation! Costs extra! :highly_amused: PJ

Costs extra? Too bad. They used to include those options for free. :blue:

Flippin' 'eck! I remember those. It seemed a shame at the time that Meadows were making these, with a history of engines for Frazer Nash, HRG, Lagonda etc.

The doors do need to be adjusted when we redo the body but in the picture I just checked into the Barrington Concours and did not get the door shut tight. It was our first major show and I was very nervous on how our car would be accepted buy the other car owners and guests, i wish I could have charged a dollar a picture! If anyone lives near Geneva Illinois we will have the car at Geneva Concours this Sunday August 24th.

I could have sworn these used Excelsior engines - did any of them? The bumperettes look like the ones used on Berkeleys (and MG YA's). It's a neat little piece of British car history for sure.
They used the Excelsior motor on the Frisky Family 3 MK2 and the Frisky Prince

Welcome! I was born and raised in Wolverhampton, my dad worked as an apprentice at Henry Meadows......
Next time I talk with John Meadows (Henry Meadows's grandson) I will mention your post. do you have an pictures of the Meadows factory? I have a couple of the Frisky's being built. Next year we may be taking the Frisky to the Milwaukee Masterpiece.
