1957 TR3, new to us, long time in the family

Hello from Texas Hill Country!

I'm the unskilled labor, support staff, and designated typer half of a couple. He's been working on cars, including this one, since he was little. (I'm more likely to use the internet, to figure things out, and found this forum this morning - already helpful.)

His parents bought the car from a friend in '64 or '65. His mom had it somewhat restored after years of neglect, and her 2nd husband got it running. They gifted it to us in 2022, when they needed the garage space for his Buick.

We're putting more work into it (there's always work, isn't there?) We'll search before asking redundant questions, and he'll have tips to share and more to say, I'm sure.

This is the only British car we've got.
Looking forward,
Alaria

great car and welcome indeed. always lovely to have a car with history and of course a scribe!

welcome

Hey there fellow Texan - welcome to BCF.

What a great TR you have, and quite a history. Feel free to post questions in the Triumph area.

Is that a 1940 Plymouth Business Coupe I see? Standard 3 speed on the column? or the new Vacamatic gearbox?

Good to have you with us.

Hey Tom, good eye! Tim recalls it as a 3 speed.

I'm sure we'll have plenty of questions. The fuel tank replacement went smoother with reading answers to someone else's question from a few years back. If one person has a question, someone else must have the same one, sooner or later.

Hello all, this is Tim. The other half mentioned above by Alaria. She beat me to the punch on starting a new member post. We are glad to be welcomed to the forum. As Alaria mentioned, we just completed a necessary fuel tank replacement. The old one was pretty rusty

exterior, bottom and interior bottom respectively.
While we were involved in the project, we had some question, and she found some answers in this forum. Since we got some assistance here, it only seems right to join and contribute to the community. Watch for a post on the tank project soon. I’m happy to say that we were sucessful and were able to get her out on the road today for a short drive for the holiday! Thanks to all those who have extended a personal welcome. - Tim

Yes, and sometimes I feel like it's an LBC desert! I've found some great folks around Georgetown, but not having a muscle car or a pickup truck puts me in the minority around here.

Welcome to BCF. Don't worry to much about asking redundant questions. There may be a question that was asked 5 years ago, but if you ask it again, there may be new members who can now offer new perspectives and answers.
