#18 steering box leaking....again.

After having my steering box rebuilt by Macy's garage,
(It looks like they did a good job BTW:smile:and getting it all put back together and buttoned down nice and snug; happy with the wheel play and movement lock to lock.
I was surprised and disappointed to find a small leak in front of the box where the stator tube exits.
( one of the same leak points as before the rebuild.)
teflon tape didn't help, tightening or loosening the collar didn't help. A close inspection of the most unlikely suspect,
the compression ring fitting, discovered the problem.
a crack, thru & thru. Go figger......

I went ahead and ordered a replacement from Moss, as I didn't want to hunt for one or something like it.

4/7/15 : Well what a dummy I am. Got the replacement compression ring from Moss & it too is split, by design.
i should have checked that on the forum, before I ordered.
but never occurred to me that a compression ring might intentionally have a split in it.
