????????

Don't know - he's had it on ebay several times...I emailed him once and offered $750...never heard back from him...I think it would be neat hanging from the ceiling of my garage.

What a weird car... given its 1948 vintage its too earlier for a TR-A or MG-3(or even MG-2).

I'd thought of a massively reworked Triumph 2000 but the wheelbase is wrong- but with those flares who could guess what it might really be...

Definitely not a '48 anything, in my opinion. Headlight pods are either TR2 or 3 (not 3A), and tub is MGA.

Perhaps I'm obtuse but I can't see it.

It would appear to me that the doors are too rounded where the MGA's are more square and its bonnet is wider and less rounded than the MGA's. The headlight buckets seem more earlier Jaguar than anything else... and if its really aluminium then I don't see it originating with either steel bodied TRs or MGAs....

Compare to the Victoria British MGA Body Parts.

It may be, but I cannot see the resemblance....

Hard to say, but whatever it is/was, it took a lot of work to get it where it is now.

... and maybe a little abuse too... just watch it turn out to be some hitherto unknown prototype hand made by Lamborghini before he did real cars, now worth gazillions, if we but only knew....

Holey Moley, the winning bid was $4,000! Perhaps the winning bidder knows something we don't?

Either that or money means a whole lot less to him than it does to me /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif

There does not appear to be a door on one side so probably the other (only) door was custom made. I can see an MGA in there for sure and the TR headlights.

But it's all aluminum/alloy... definately one off... Who knows... I researched for 2 weeks trying to figure out what it was... nada.
