Hi folks,

I'm in the processof rebuilding a 1600E series2 cortina. Can anybody tell me about differences between standard mk2 body parts & 1600E.
I'm told there is a difference in the front doors, does anybody know what the difference is.
All help appreciated.

Hi Jag240,

There is an excellent e-mail group for Cortina's, most of the members are in North America but I believe there are folks on there worldwide as well, very useful for anyone owning a Cortina wherever they might be, details below:

Subscribe: email to: listserv@lotus-cortina.com

In the body of the email, type:
subscribe cortina-list youremail@youremail.com

Hi Jag240.. Congrats on the 1600E. ( the E stands for Executive..)To the best of my knowledge there is no differance to the doors, except possibly where the higher level of trim attaches ( polished wood door cappings ).

They are all 4 doors, with the GT motor and suposedly the Lotus Cortina suspension. They all came with the Roystyle wheels ( I have a set of these if anyone wants them..)

It should have the twin front driving lights. polished wood dash, aluminum with leather steering wheel, reclining seats, the GT guages and cut pile carpets.

They had extra sound deadning as well..

They sold for just under $1000 pounds new and should do 0 to 60 in about 12 to 13 seconds, with a top speed of 95 MPH.

I understand that these are the most desireable of the breed, after the lotus, so you have a great find there...
