There's one left. When she runs her race there will be no others.

Too likely another would end up outliving us... and the thought of an abandoned family member in the hands of uninvolved second parties is positively unbearable.

We're done.

Merlyn was a special individual, ran TO the diretion of fire, no fear. Ran point in every case. I've lost my backup.

I can't ~find~ another like him, don't want to even try. He was unique. Truly.

If there's really a "spirit" past our perceived reality, that cat and my Dad are bonded by now and I'll be in very good company. If not, it don't mean a flip.

I know how it is. Lost a number of felines over the decades. Going to lose one tomorrow morning, looks like. He had a stroke last October, lost all hearing, lost his memory of where to put his poo, and it ends up all over, needing to be cleaned up. He steps in it and lays in it, requiring wipedowns, He can hardly walk, runs his head into the bathtub and doesn't know how to turn away.
Not pretty here tonight.

It's a tough call Dad but they count on us to make it.

Sorry to learn that, Dave. I've begun to hate winter for another reason: it seems we lose our furry members of the family during that season. Nimrod passed on 4 FEB last year at age 15. A girl-cat, Little Kitty, was 17 when she left us on a Valentine's Day, now that ain't much of a holiday for us. This sucks, frankly.

Sorry to hear this, Dave. Tough times for sure.

1000 local....Rosco was a replacement for Bosco....Rosco (Maine Coon) showed up 2 days after Bosco departed.
Ornery fella, but my wife loved him dearly.
Had kidney disease, which we actually beat with special diet, but the stroke did him in.
