1500 Transmission Mount

I know this is an obscure question but does anyone have a 1500 transmision rear mount "T" that they could measure out for me. Mine was broken when I pulled the engine and quite frankly, I can't completely understand it's purpose. Anyway, after I cleaned mine up it was obviously a homemade job and when I welded back together it came out too long and skewed the mounting bracket forward severly deforming my new rubber mounts. Since this part is commercially unavailable, I am forced to cut up my homemade one and try to build it back close to stock specifics. If anyone has one they can measure out for me it would seriously help this trial and error gyration. Oh and the machine shop called, I should have the block, crank, rods, and flywheel back by the end of this week. Rusty could actually be back on the road next week. I'm looking forward to driving the little beast again.

Wish I could help you, man. As I recall, it should be pretty easy for you to guess the measurement. The bottom of the "T" bolts to the back of the tail piece. The other end "floats" in the mounting bracket. My guess is that it's function is to stabalize the shifter and keep hard shifting from putting stress on the rubber mounts.

Good luck.

Thanks bud,
That's pretty much what I decided it did. The first time I put it together, it pushed the mounting bracket way forward and stressed the rubber bushings too much. I've got version 2.0 put together now and we'll see how that does this afternoon. The upside of this is I still have till this weekend to keep fooling around with it. My block won't be ready till Friday.
