Can't find my manuel & looked in our knowledge base- both carbs are acting the same so hopefully we are looking in another direction. In other words HELP!

1500 Midget with dual carbs?

Ah, so you mean the Zenith & the Weber are doing the same thing....

Can you give us a detailed list of symptoms?

Nial wrote a great procedure for adjusting the valves, which I had saved, but I guess was lost during one of the recent forum upgrades.

I have it in my brain, and I will try to write it out for you if I get a little time later. My daughter's 3rd birthday party is tomorrow, so time is in short supply.

When the Zenith was on It loaded up but it stayed running- with either weber (we chaged intake and tried 2 different carbs ) it doesn't stay idling- it kills.

And the fuel pump is putting out what pressure? Anything under 3 is good.

We pulled the valve cover off and there was only one set of springs not 2 like the Mosquito- Terry thought they were just weak-but all the inner springs were missing?

fuel pump working perfectly

Hold on... stock fuel pump? Because they put out about three times as much pressure as the DGV likes. You'd need either a fuel pressure regulator, or a HVLP pump that's within the DGV's specs.

same fuel pump & regulator- aren't the springs the problem? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazyeyes.gif

Randi, it's really hard to help you without a detailed list of your symptoms and the car's history.

Are the springs the problem? From what I can gather from your posts, it doesn't seem like it. Weak springs could cause the car to run poorly and idle roughly, but they would have to be pretty worn out to keep your car from running. If it will run with the ZS carb installed, hook a vacuum gauge up to the manifold and fire up the car. Once the car fires up and and is running steadily, look at the vacuum gauge. If the needle bounces around erratically, it could be your springs or some other issue with your valve train.

I must stress that 90% of all "carb" problems can be fixed by repairing the ignition. Are you absolutely 100% without a doubt certain that your ignition components are in working order?
