150 CD Carb Floats - Early vs Late ?

I found today that the float in our GT6's front carb had failed. One of the two "pontoons" is a sinker. I borrowed a float from a parts carb to get going again but want to buy a new float to replace it.

I know there are the (relatively) new "unsinkable" floats for Strombergs. However, doing my research I am finding conflicting information. Some web sites say the replacement floats are for 1970 and later carbs. Spitbits has a float that is supposed to fit "all models". When you look at Victoria British they offer a float for cars made after 1969 but not for earlier cars like mine. The pictures of these modern floats show a different profile than on my early carbs (different pivot features and 2 float valve actuating paddles instead of 1).

I have sent emails to Burlen and to Joe Curto to ask about floats for my carbs but I am curious if any of you know if I can use the unsinkable floats in my early 150CD carbs? I am not opposed to modifying them to get them to work. I need something as I no longer trust the old parts I have at hand.

I have noticed that the floats on 175 CD pre-emission carbs from a TR4 are definitely different than the floats used on 175 CDSE emission era carbs used on TR6s. The floats from the earlier carbs are made from some sort of black expanded foam, while the later CDSE floats are hollow. They are also different in size and not interchangeable. I don't know if this applies to the smaller 150 carbs.Berry

Sadly I expect what you are saying will also be true for the 150CD carbs. However, if I have to... I'll buy the new float and spot weld its arms onto my old float.
