image.jpgimage.jpgI was surprised to see that the cast metal of the thermostat housing is such poor quality. Upon close inspection I noticed chunks of the inner side walls were eroded away ( in both the housing & cover) no wonder my water jackets are packed in with crud!.
TRF offers the housings, but on backorder.
so after some delay the base housing arrived.( some pitting & not great quality either).
Very easy to install as the old housing was not sealed down, but only had a gasket.
i now use a grinder polisher with a fine grit poly disc to prep. Gasket sites. ( be sure to stuff the port to keep the junk out of the block).
Very quick and leaves the metal smooth and polished. I tried the permatex grey RTV on this one. Went on well @ 1/16" bead , with not much noodles left on the inside.image.jpgimage.jpg
