13x5.5 wheels

i have a set of (mostly) chrome 13x5.5 wheels.....
what size tires do i need for these...theyre somewhat
wider than my rostyles and i dont want nothin rubbin.

depends on the offset. With a RWA car you are limited by when the tires rub the leaf springs and when you get rub on the inside of the front tires on front lock. 175/70's would probably be safe.

I agree with Trevor, remember lower profile tires are going to increase the rpm's (hence engine temp). I have 165 80's on my street car and am happy with them.

I can run my sprites 4500+ rpms all day in the summer here in Houston, 110+F out side temp, stock cooling system with no troubles.(less than 200 F If your car overheats you have something wrong.
going from 70 to 60 series tires will not cause your car to over-heat.
I run 175-60 13 Falken ZEIX all-weather tires. they work great..even use them on my spec-sprite racers. cheap too. bout 40 bucks or less if ya shop around.

Thanks, maybe I can go down a profile. It is about a .75 increase in tread. Is that also on the highway?

Basically the change from 165 to 175 is 10 mm in section (165mm to 175mm)width. that is outside edge to outside edge. Depending on the tire design it may or may not put more tread on the road. Some tires have a significant bulge beyond the tread. This make thr section width wider than the actual tread. The Falkins do put a bit more tread on the road. Beware of rubbing concerns if you have lowered your car. I think that with stock ride height clearance should be ok. Your results may vary
