1275 to 948 Generator Swap - Need Input Please

All:

As was mentioned previously, I recently purchased Ray Evans' Whitephrog. I'm in the process of reassembling the car. It came with a 1275 that I swapped it out for a 948. I've been pretty deliberate with a fine eye on details. I'm working off memory (I previously owned a BE), some photos, and a parts catalog. Today, I ran into a real problem swapping the generator off the 1275 and on to the 948. It is an original generator for the cable driven rev counter. Here is my key issues right now:

1. I have the fan belt off the 1275. It looks a bit small. Moss lists a different p/n for a 948 fan belt. Is the 948 belt a bit larger? (I called Moss, the operator just confirmed it is a different part).

2. The lower bracket (front of engine to third hole on generator; adjustable) from the 1275 just looks to be a hair short for the 948. Did the 948 use a different bracket? Moss lists one p/n for a bracket (called a "link" in their catalogue) for all three engines. Is this a larger, universal bracket?

I'm looking to place an order tonight to get what I need. Any input will be greatly appreciated.

I can measure the overall length of mine (adjusting link) when I get home this afternoon if that might help.

Hi Mike,
sorry I couldn't get back to you yesterday. The overall length of the adjusting link is about 8" to 8 1/4". I couldn't get the tape measure in there very well. The distance between the points at which the link is bolted to the engine block and the generator is 5 3/4". That measurement would vary of course with the length of the fan belt installed, but I just thought I'd throw it out there in case it helps.

Mark:

Thanks for taking the time. My current bract is 6" in total. I have a new once coming tomorrow from Moss that I hope will do the trick.
