i get 25 miles from home today and run out of gas....
the odd thing is , the day before i topped it off to check my mileage, and i only drove 86 miles!
is that possible? my car runs pretty well and probably better than alot of cars....and no, i dont have a leak...at least not gas ; ) ......zzimmmmy

Zimmy, fill it back up and see how much it takes. It's possible you're not getting all the usable fuel in the tank. If you used all 7.2 gals in that amount of driving, it's 15.4 MPG. You should be getting close to double that.

it was pretty dry when i ran out...i took the fill hose loose to check, soon as i heard my fuel pump gettin louder....but i only got 86 miles on a full tank.
maybe someone thiefed me, but i doubt it.....
ill just have to fill up an go for a long drive to recheck my mileage again i guess.......z

Ahhh, shucks, a long drive. Feel for ya.

Just don't go farther from home than 43 miles! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nonono.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

At this point Jeff., 43 miles seems like a wonderful long drive.

Maybe by Springtime, you can be tooling around the mountains of Northern Florida, Jack.
Sad to say, I've only driven mine about 130 miles all year.
No excuses, either. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

think im close to 200 miles on mine...
but i just got it safe enough to be a
daily driver with my new front brakes
and shocks ; )
ill keep a gallon of gas in the trunk till
the mystery is solved, and i might even consider
pushing the gas gauge up on the list of things
needing done...........z

Zimmy, did you have a leak in the tank not long ago?

12 is way way way too low. I've (this is estimated due to my broken spedometer) put about 1000 miles on this summer, averaging about 35-40 miles to the gallon. I usually fill up after 200 miles and put in 5-6 gallons.

I have gotten mileage that low before on my 1500. It was due to way outa whack ignition timing and carb. Check your plugs. If they are sooty and black, your timing and carbs need work. Set your timing first!

i blame it all on back pressure at the gas pump.....
if i run the gas to fast it shuts off the pump and i
assume its full.....i filled it slowly this morning
and expect much better results... ; ) ..zzimmmy

Zimmy I think it is time to fix your gas gage.
