ok, so yesterday was a grand day indeed, the B and I went out for a day of driving, first time ever, other than around the block. everything was wonderful with the exception of the interstate, the car idles smooth and accelerates like nobodys business, but at 70 mph on teh freeway at 4000 rpm, i can feel the engine fluctuating, timing is good, no pinging, carbs appear to be fine, only thing that comes to mind is vacuum advance, but if thayts the only time its erratic, im just gonna leave it alone and stay below 60. but al in all, a great day!

If it won't drive well above 60, something is wrong. I wouldn't ignore the problem. You're probably losing performance across the entire range. Does the problem exist at a sustained 4000 RPM in any gear? If so I would check the ignition system. If only in top gear, I would check fuel delivery.

Its not that it doesnt run well, it runs great, but rigth at around 4k where i am at 70 ish i feel it jump a little, in any other gear at that rpm its fine, and even in 4th when its doing it, i can give it more gas and it stops and powers on through, has plenty of oomph, but its just around the 70 ish mark that it wants to stumble a little as if its a bit of a flat spot in teh fuel, or timing has run out of advance too early, becasue as i say, if i push pedal harder it picks right on up and keeps accelerating. thats why i am kinda thinking its the vacuum advance,

ok, here i go again, i really think its to do with teh advance due to the fact that the tube that goes to it is blocked, no vacuum getting to it, gonna try to bypass with a rubber hose and see what happens, will keep you posted.
