It hit 110-F yesterday for about a half hour. That's in the shade on the back porch out of the sun. Was 106 at dinner time. 77 this morning. Second time I've ever seen it that hot. 20 years ago in Phoenix, while visiting family, it hit 118.

105° here in Kentucky yesterday...on our front porch where we don't get any sun during the day. Hottest I've ever seen was when I approached Needles, California in a helicopter on July 2nd and flight service reported 127° !!! Of course, after refueling, we headed into the Mojave toward Edwards AFB and it REALLY got hot...but, we had no way of knowing what it was. Like flying in a greenhouse :frown:

It was only 108 here. We've had a very mild summer this year June only had a couple days over 100, and July has not been bad. Sorry you guys are getting hit with such a bad heat wave.

Yes, rain in Illinois muchly appreciated....and needed....

Got most of the yard cut today. Just need a bit more rain tomorrow to finish up. I find it cuts better then.

Walter, I thought you folks down there would be getting more heat than us up here in Locust Grove. Looks like were in for a long dry summer. We don't have to mow the grass here, it just breaks off when you walk on it! I have 15 acres in hay and it's only 12/14 inches high. Won't grow without water! Our 3 acre pond has dropped 3 feet, and it's spring fed! Bad, real bad. PJ

About 85 F here in Pittsburgh and mostly overcast.
Perfect for racing old British cars.

Paul, sounds like you are getting what we had last year. I have to mow at least once a week right now, and all the ponds that dried up last year are plumb full now.
