100M on E-bay

Since you are here now, could you take some more photos?
1. Complete firewall
2. Left side of engine compartment
3. Left side of radiator looking in through grille
4. Underside of shroud in line with the gap in the louvers on hood.(Go almost all the way to the lowest point.)

For the record, the reason for doubt begins with the incorrect number plate. Added to that is the fact that every piece you have used as validation can be easily swapped from another vehicle. It is entirely possible that someone swapped those items before the car was purchased by your father. Lots of possibilities................

Conrad,

Thanks for joining in with your comments. Truth is, there have been so many less than truthful ads trying to pass regular 100s of as a 100M that any ad that doesn't answer all the questions up front gets treated with a lot of skepticism and as a group we can sometimes seem a little harsh with our comments. OTOH, we don't want to see anyone buy something they think it might be when it isn't. If it is a genuine M, you might be leaving some money on the table by not finding out first. The 100M experts can tell you what info BMIHT can use to perform a search, or it may be worth a phone call to them to find out what they can do for you. At the very least, you may want to include the photos of the trunk support and bonnet number on your eBay ad. My initial thought was perhaps you knew what you had and were trying to be vague in your description. Your appearance here has gone a long way to changing that thought. Good luck with the sale.

Conrad;

I sent you a message on ebay. Kent Lacy is about as knowledgeable person as there is on factory M's . His email address is enclosed in the ebay message I sent you. He was very helpful to me when I was restoring my factory M. He will be able to guide you and help you be more educated about what you are looking for when evaluating a bn2, as to whether it is a factory M or not. You might also want to check with the 100 registrar, Randy Hicks he is also very helpful and knows his stuff. There are a lot of deceitful people trying to scam innocent buyers so being upfront and visible is always the best way to eliminate doubt.

Thanks! like I said I would not want mislead anyone in any way. It was weird reading a 2 page post of people all talking about me and my car.. haha. But i just wanted to clear things up.

I also sent Kent Lacy an email and ebay message with my phone number. still waiting for the call. I will add the photos of the stamped numbers on my ebay, but that means I need to remove some.

remove some pics* because it only allows 24 pics

I will take back what I said in my last post. The original pic did not show the top of the shroud support which does, indeed, have the correct brace that works in conjunction with a bent shroud support to clear a cold air box. Could not tell for sure as the modifications done to move the brake master(why????) welded over a characteristic kink in the support.

I deleted my statement in prior post.

It really is a shame that this poor car was so poorly modified.

"Healey Nut" seems to have some type of resentment towards me for no reason. saying

No resentment at all . As others have all pointed out 100M's and Le mans are the rarest of the rare when it comes to Healeys and fakes of the cars are a dime a dozen as everyone wants to try and make that 1/4 million that a real documented factory 100M could potentially sell for .
You quote was that your father was going to "retire on this car" ...then why just list it on E-bay without doing all the research you could and finding everything about the car and getting the documentation to support the car which could be in your favour .
Listing the car in the way you have raises red flags with anyone who knows anything about Healeys . Hence the suspicions .
Too many people have been burned because they don't do the research about the so called 100M they are buying and end up getting screwed .
You are doing yourself justice in coming on here and stating the things you have and supporting it with pics etc . Remember you have to put yourself in the position of a knowledgeable buyer and look at the E-bay ad the way it is and it lends itself to the classic ad of someone trying to sell a 100M to an uneducated buyer .
Time will tell if in fact you do have the real thing but at this point in time it looks like that is not the case .

I have just received a call from someone who does not me to mention their name. This person knows people at the heritage. He gave them my batch and body number, and he was given the correct vin and verification that this car is a real M car.

I reserved the right to cancel the auction at any time. and will do so, so I can obtain the heritage certificate now that i have the chassis number. and then the car will be re-listed.

That's certainly good info for you to have. Now you just have to wonder if there is another car running around somewhere registered under your original serial number/VIN number, also claiming to be a factory "M". Something along these lines was mentioned sometime back on another forum, although not in reference to a 100M.

Conrad ;

keep in touch with "thar man". He is a good honest man and will help you. Restoring that car even if it is an M is going to be a very difficult task MK

Be sure to do all you can to get the title corrected with the DMV also. It will definitely help with the sale. Bring all the documents you have and correspondence with the heritage people with you to the DMV to help your case.

as far as the certificate, the website said it requires a chassis number.. which I cannot find. so i dont think i can get a certificate. if there is any way around this let me know. I would be glad to pay to find out exactly what the car is.

It's my understanding that the BMIHT can research a car with the batch/body number only. The number 5690 11913 may be used as the VIN now, but it is the batch/body number.

You might have to call the BMIHT, and there might be an additional charge and a delay, but I believe they can do it. This car has some 100M telltales. It should be worth the expense and the wait.

What a neat mystery! I saw the car listed on ebay & also initially thought it was very suspicious. There was another similar listing (different car & seller) a few months ago, but that was truly a case of a seller being less-than-honest with his description.

I hope this car is researched thoroughly and turns out to be a factory M. Then it should end up in the shop of a pro who can bring it back to life!
Keep everyone updated on this car. It's really an interesting story!
