100M etched carburettor numbers

I am curious about the numbers etched on the 100M carburetors, 6047 and 6053. Does anybody know the genesis of those numbers. I don't think they started with the Ms. They don't seem to relate to Austin part numbers from the P.280 kit. Perhaps there is a tie in to the fact they are modified as far as the venting to the air box? I have never seen a picture of them, are they keeping that a secret to thwart the people faking Ms? Any thoughts or facts or even wild guesses always welcome. Feel free.:encouragement:

I do not know the significance of the actual numbers or why they were hand etched but suspect and agree with not posting pictures of how they look on the carb manifold to make it more difficult for the scammers out there. Now that 100M's are selling for unheard of prices from just 5 years ago, imagine we'll see even more fakes coming out of the woodwork. Another good reason to always check with the 100M Registry about any car being sold. Not sure if Bill Meade, founder of the 100M Registry, still sells the authentication guidelines manual that has the pictures in it.

Yes, Bill's Identification Guidelines booklet tells all, and has one so-so close-up photo of the etched numbers on one carb. Anyone contemplating the purchase of a 100M is well advised to obtain a copy of this booklet. Bill is a great resource for all of us interested in these cars. Visit his website for further information.

Here is Bill's photo for those who wonder what we are talking about. I guess if Bill is comfortable posting the image it is okay. It is possible he will sue me!:angel2:
