Re: 1000 Sprites

Drool........
That's like going to a buffet, and every dish, is your favourite.

Re: 1000 Sprites

Title should read "spridgets"

It seems the organizers did a good job.

At first I was in awe that they could get 1000 spridgets together, but then I thought...

You know, it would be just as easy to get 1000 pre-78 Mustangs to a gathering here in the US.

But I've been enjoying the pictures. There are a bunch of nice and unique cars there.

Re: 1000 Sprites

Due to popular demand I changed the title of the thread.

Re: 1000 Sprites

I surely did, is neat.

Did you see all the Seabring/factory raceing ones.

Re: 1000 Sprites

Thanks for posting this Jack!!! I especially like photo #70. After seeing a BE/Sprite to suit every taste it was refreshing to see what looks like the "rat" of the show!! (actually has the potential to be one of the "prettier" coupes there!!). I am actually amazed at how many were represented "sans" front bumper (BE and "square" Sprites!)!!! Makes me feel much better about running mine like that too!!

Kim that could also be referred to as a Muck!! :jester:

Re: 1000 Sprites

Yes, I was surprised at the number of hardtops and fiberglass bonnets! Lots of pretty cars... I think Milo would be self-conscious about his big rubber nose & tail. Soon to be removed, I think...

Remember that the UK has over 300 rain days a year. Just not really a soft top country.

Re: 1000 Sprites

I just came back from there this evening. 4 hours driving from Gaydon to Harwich, 18 hour Ferry to Esbjerg, 4 hours driving to Copenhagen.

There were well over 1000 spridgets. closer to 1500, but official numbers and estimates aren't always in agreement. I have a whole lot of photos that I will post soon. I saw the truck-midget driving in, but didn't get a chance to look at it closer. The same can be said for much of the show. It was after all only one day. I arrived about 9am and stayed til 5pm. I got very tired from walking around, taking pictures, talking to owners, fiding the best cars to investigate further etc. and I only got to see about a third to half of the field. I did see quite a few sebrings, some extreemly original examples with very low mileage and all original, some highly modified cars (Rover V8), many replica and original Pritchard-Williams cars, some replicas quite nicely done, like Kai Eriksson's fine example from Norway. (Did you know Norwegian is very close to Danish?)

Inside the heritage center, Mike Garton told his story about MEG-199 (Link)

Since I really like the Sebring Sprites and the most famous is of course PMO200, I just had to talk to a current owner Sharon Woolmer (Link) and she was kind enough to take this picture.

Her friend Tom Coulthard was also on hand to re-sign my copy of Spritely Years.

Re: 1000 Sprites

I think that thier are a couple of PMO200's out there

Re: 1000 Sprites

Amazing--all seem to have exactly the same manufacturing defect: someone put the steering wheels on the wrong side!

Lucky that they got a nice day for it, too.
