[ QUOTE ]
Would some kind Healey100/100M owner please measure the center distance on the carburetter inlets and post it as a reply to me? Thank you in advance.

Scott--

To actually measure between the inlet centers I would have to remove the Cold Air Box and I'd rather have a tooth pulled, but I measure a strong 8-9/16" between the oil filler caps and that should be the same dimension. My H6 carbs were supplied as an original "Le Mans" upgrade kit in 1957--I don't know if the new ones supplied by VB or those swapped from Triumphs are the same.

Michael,
I actually removed the box & carbs to get an exact measurement of port centers in the head. Comes out 8 5/8". Your carbs must be off center a bit, your cylinder head has shrunk, or the measure has stretched due to weather conditions. Do you know about shrunken heads?
Really, I just measured a spare head, (the cars) not mine.

LOLOL--

Aside from being a most knowledgeable and prolific contributor to this list you are actually getting a sense of humor!

Note that I said a STRONG 8-9/16". I was using an architect's scale that had graduations in 1/16" increments but expressed myself in carpenter's terminology. Now that you mention it my cylinder head is a DW aluminum and perhaps the rate of expansion and contraction of various metals needs to be figured in. Anyway, who needs a little head?
