I have a late Longbridge BN4 that I am restoring. My 3 questions are as follows:
1. In the "boot" area where the armacord material is glued to the fenderwell, are the rear fender bolts cut through the armacord material and left exposed, or is the material pulled away to allow the bolt heads to be concealed beneath the armacord when installed?
2. Is the sewn vinyl sleeve that is installed on the "L" shaped rear quarter panel that conceals the front portion of the interior fender well glued to the face of the wood backer or is it just stretched over the form and glued along the front edge? All the photos I have seen show a flat, smooth surface with no wrinkles (outside and inside).
3. The armrest (also purchased from Moss) has two fairly large vinyl flaps that go on either side of the transmission tunnel. I have located the original fastener holes in the tunnel, but I am unclear as to where the armrest should be located in terms of front to back. I have seen photos where the back of the armrest is almost touching the rear seats, and others that show it almost 4 inches forward of the rear seats (estimated). Other photos show the fasteners almost at the top edge of the armrest as opposed to along the lower edge of the flaps.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Kirby
 
It depends on how late your car is. There were three types of armrest. The first two were saddle type and the third from car number 68959 was a pad sewn into the carpet the same as the later 3000s. The earlier saddle type was deeper than the later type With press studs near the bottom of the tunnel. The second type was narrower with the studs near the top of the tunnel, this butted up against the rear seats. The reproduction that I had was of the deeper type and did not but up against the seats as it was shorter. I’m not sure it’s known when the the saddle was changed to the narrower version or whether the narrower type is available now.
 
Mine is BN4L-O-49727 (Sept, 1957) so I have holes in my transmission tunnel on either side. My question is how do I know where the saddle flaps relate to the press studs. Do I just center the cut out for the parking brake lever?
 
Ideally the cut out would be centred around the handbrake, but this depends on how accurate the reproduction armrest is. I think I had to drill extra two holes for the press studs In order to get it to fit.
 
Thanks for the information about the arm rest. Do you have any advice about the rear quarter panels, and the fender bolts in the trunk? Sorry about the delay in responding, I was out of town on family stuff. Kirby
