100/6 Brake Upgrade

Country flag
Offline
Just finished upgrading up my brother's 100/6 drum brake car to disc brakes. Used late BJ8 parts so we use the Toyota 4 pot brake calipers. Biggest surprise was cutting some metal off the dust sheilds so the Toyota caliper could fit. Next we are replacing the tired old 2600 Longbridge motor with a late BJ8 29k motor that has been bored 40 over. Will use the HD8's but thinking maybe tri carbs.

Good job. Where did you source your hoses? How has your pedal "feel" changed, if any?

I would paint those calipers because they will rust over quickly. You can clear coat them if you don't want to use paint. I considered cutting my shields but since i don't drive in foul weather I just removed them altogether.

SS hoses from Moss, made my own metal lines. Pedal is up and full but until engine is replaced don't know abput brake feel until then. Put some clear on the calipers.

Hope you kept the 3/4" master cyl. My setup in front is same as yours - have added Jag calipers and discs in back. With all ceramic pads, pedal pressure is great - no booster needed.
Look forward to hearing if you can corroborate this.

PS - see my pix of correct brake pipes - interferance on jounce is an issue.

Derek,
engine does have a high high cam, not sure what it the grind is. I know it had .010" taller lobes than the std BJ8 cam. I have a HD6 tri carb set up. Mey paut that on later. Don't think I have all the linkage for it.
