My car has its brake drums fitted the wrong way around /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif

In other words, the back ones are fitted to the front and the front ones to the rear of the car.
I haven't got a clue why this is but I wanted to put everything back into its right place. I'm also surprised that no mechanic has noticed this.

I am now sceptical that I even have the proper drums on the car as I have wire wheels on it and I might possibly have disc wheel drums.

A such I need your help in knowing how the difference isdistinguished between disc wheel drums and wire wheel drums (front and rear).
Does anyone have any pictures so that I can see the difference??

A quick glance should be all it takes; I'm pretty sure the front drums have five (5) studs on nearly a four inch (4" circle) and rears have five (5)on a five inch (5") circle. They'd have to be redrilled to swap front to rear.

I could be wrong about the circle diameter at the front, as my car went to disc brakes over twenty years ago...

Rear wire wheel drums are recessed where the splined adapter bolts on and disc wheel drums have the equivalent of a built in spacer there.
