Need a new loom for the car. Moss? What other supplier choices should I consider? What type do you like?

I got mine (BN2) from Austin Healey Spares in the UK. They have choices that include cotton overbraid with the correct tracer color over braid-covered wires, which is the most authentic combo. Other less expensive choices as well. Well made, everything fit fine.

I think you will find that most suppliers are selling the same thing. They come from Autosparks in the UK. One exception is Rhode Island Wiring. Theirs are reportedly excellent quality but pricey. I have put new harnesses in a BN1, a BT7, an XK120 an E-Type, and a TD. They were all from different suppliers and they were all Autosparks harnesses. All were decent quality and correct.

Choices nowadays seem to be rubber insulation w/fabric cover (as original), PVC insulated w/fabric cover, and 100% pvc insulated. For the conductors, my choice would be PVC insulated w/fabric cover, unless you're striving for 100% authenticity.

The outer braid choices are fabric (as original) over rubber or pvc insulated w/fabric cover, or pvc (non-adhesive tape) wrap.

The pvc insulated conductors w/fabric cover and the fabric outer braid loom seems to me the best choice of original appearance with modern longevity.

The last couple of harnesses I bought were from brit-boy on Ebay, and those too were likely from Autosparks; all appropriate connectors, etc, and easy to fit and connect__relatively speaking...

I really like the one I got from British Wiring for my BJ8, cloth/braided harness and also the steering column harness. $377.54 with shipping. Don't forget the small pigtails that go to the Headlights.

I also was making some mods to my car for an Electric radiator/condensor fan plus AC so I purchased wire from them too. They have all the colors with stripes plus the connectors too. Don't forget the Tool for inserting the bullets into the sleeve connectors. $30.00 but is well worth itI Since I was making some custom wiring for my AC System I also got the Bullet Crimping Tool at $55.00. I wish I had these tools several years ago!! Do they work, yep...I've been asked but other club members if they could borrow them and they said they were well worth the investment.

I just ordered my wiring harness from AH Spares Ltd in the UK. Very high quality and complete - even the overdrive wires. I noticed that with other sources you had to order each wiring bundle separately. The cost was less than domestic, even with shipping and currency difference, and arrived in two days. I ordered cotton/pvc. I ordered the bullet and crimper tool from Moss. Worth the investment for me and no local club members to share. BTW, If your car is a BN2, it took me a while to find a wiring diagram (not the same as a BN1). Found one in the owners manual supplement for the BN2. Be glad to send you a copy if needed. Don't forget to take lots of before pictures!

Mike. Thanks for the offer. I have the factory manual. The UK connection sounds good. I had already ordered thru British Wiring. Probably paying too much but I had an address issue with UK and I couldn't get the wrong town to delete from the system. I have no idea how it got in there. The company offered to help from that end but I had already ordered. Strange stuff.
