100-4 Pedal Draft Pads

Can somebody tell me why did Healey made the holes so big in the foot board for the pedals to go through, on the 100-4?

Anyway do the draft pads (black foam pads, with slots in them)get glued to the plates on the pedals or on the backside of the foot board?

There does not seem a good way with either option! If you glue them to the plates on the pedals, every tine you push in the clutch or brake you open the hole allowing cold air, or water in to soak the carpet. If you glue them to the foot board, first there is not a large area to glue them. Second I would think with the pedal rubbing on them it would not take long before they came unglued or ripped.

Has anybody done a mod to over come this? Like gluing rubber over the holes with slots in them to allow the pedal to go through?

Thanking you in advance,
Tod

Looking at my MOSS catalog on page 47 I think you're talking about item #13, correct? To me, the pad shouldn't be glued anywhere. It appears the pad needs to be able to slide forward and back to follow the pedals.
If you can call British Car Specialists during the week during their business hours they may be able to clear this up for you.

Let us know what you find out, OK.

The pads are glued to the steel plates on the pedal and ride up and down with the pedal. The area is so far up into the angled toe board that nothing seems to get up there, cold air or splash. Keep in mind a large inner wheel arch is well placed in front of this area. The toe board carpet should have fairly closely cut slits to allow the pedals to move up and down without interference and that's all they ever did. You'll never feel cold air or wet there.
