My carbs needles and seats seem to over powered by my SU fuel pump AZX1332. I really do not want to cut the lines and to run a pressure regulator. Idea?

I have replaced the jets, needle and seats brass tipped, new floats.

Help

Cheers

Mark

I had similar issues when I put my carbs back together, make sure the float bowls are vented correctly, I had two different forms of venting on my carbs, one involved a notched washer to allow air out, as I recall the other carb actually had a vent tube on the top of the float lid where the nut went in, not sure which is correct (but I assume if correct they would have matched), but if not vented you will get symptoms similar to described, the SU pump should not be able to "overpower" the floats and needles in normal circumstances.

Good luck, Greg

Make sure the float level is adjusted correctly. The fuel level should be set so it is below the top of the needle seat in the carburetor throat. If it isn't, fuel will run continuously into the engine and the SU pump will continue clicking.

When its done correctly, the SU should click up then stop once the float valves are closed.

Also, install a good fuel filter in the line. Any dirt in the gas can prevent the float valves from seating properly.

Bill.

Yep we got vents in the float tops and float levels are okay. She will hold for a while then let go.

Mark, can you gently tap the lids and get the over flow to stop? Likely crap in the lines or tank after sitting for a while, and that stuff is getting under the float needles and keeping things open. This us quite usual for about the first couple of tankfuls until the crap works out of the system. A temporary in line filter will help.
