Seemed like only yestery when I said, hmmm, let's clean out the engine compartment. Now 1.5 yrs. later, the 59 BE will be coming out for a test drive this weekend. (hopefully)
After stripping the car down, having it painted (yellow), replaced engine and trans with a stepped on, newly rebuilt 1275 engine and a 5 speed Datun (Rivergate) trans, brakes converted to a later dual brake master cylinder and clutch cylinder, new wiring harnesses (and other little things that just suck up $$$), I hope to drive it around the block. I was bleeding the brakes last night after finishing the brake lines..I stepped on the brake pedal and I HAD BRAKES...and the brake lights went on! - It's these little things that make a difference.
I don't want to jinx myself but just seeing this in print is motivating me to push myself so thet car is ready this weekend. Final things include a trip to Moss Motors in Denver, NJ to pick up more odds and ends and putting the steering column shroud and steering wheel on (that shroud is a PITA).
There will be more work after that..windshield wipers, horns...stuff like that, but I hope to feel the wind blowing in my face soon. (After I break in the cam in my engine)
More to follow...hopefully pictures. Thanks to all who have helped along the way...but more on that later too.
