0-60 mph and other fun

SO the weather was nice and I decided to go for a drive rather than work on the car. A few weeks ago there was discussion on 0-60 times. I found a nice flat stretch of road with no drive ways or other outlets. I did five 0-60 runs and averaged my best three. 7.4 seconds. I also did a few hp pulls, but the numbers are only for comparison for when I switch back to the higher boost pulley.

The best part about this stretch of road is that you have to go through a couple of curvy miles down into the hollow and back out to get to the flat straight section. I drove it a few times too. There was a 914 Porsche out playing as well. Sometimes you have to remind yourself that your on a public road because the little car just want to take the curves FASTER! Unfortunately, this stretch of road is also popular with the bicyclists so you have to be prepared and keep looking through the turns.

Anyway... The weekend is over. Hope everyone got at least a few minutes to play.

I didn't get a chance to play this weekend, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the work I did this weekend, and what I have planned this upcoming week will allow me some fun next weekend. Weather permitting.

Agreed about having to be very careful of the cyclists. For whatever reason the area I live in is notorious for cycling clubs to pretend like they're on the Tour de Force. One afternoon I was three miles from the house and rounded a curve and found 50 of them wagging their saggy spandexed behinds at me. I thought I was going to get to play Moses parting the Red Sea there for a bit.

I'm still on post-op doggie care duty - but next weekend is also supposed to be sunny here so maybe I'll get out then!

Reminds me of the roller coaster in California Adventure called California Screamin': 0 - 55 in 4 seconds. Way fun for me & my 9 year old daughter!

Trevor,

I want to drive Ugly Bug if you make it up to Dayton in August. under 8 seconds in a BE, Wow!!!

I need to get my spare 1275 rebuilt and start saving for that supercharger. Need to figure out how to squirrel away the funds for that project. Yes dear, a few parts and pieces that I needed to keep Bugsy running.

You can get 0-60 in less than 7 seconds without a supercharger if you build the engine correctly. It just needs to hold together through 7500 rpm.

BTW Jim, you can come down to Louisville this weekend for the Louisville British Bash car show and I'll let you drive the the Ugly Bug.
