HD8 Carb Lift Pin Replacement

The lift pin on my forward HD8 carb is stuck in the down position. I have the parts from Moss to replace it. Can anyone provide any advice before I try to remove the stuck lift pin?

The small C-clip looks like it will be a real challenge. Looks like it should come out of the bottom of the opening once I remove the C-clip. I have tried WD-40, Blaster, and Marvel Mystery Oil multiple times with no success.

The float lever, if that's what you're referring to, should come out easily with the pin removed (the pin fits semi-loosely, it's held in place by the inside wall of the float). If yours is so mangled it won't come out easily I would replace it. Moss has it, for 'original' lid for $8.99; part#370-170. IIRC, the valve is screw-in; if you see a 'C-clip' it's likely a gasket.

Are you referring to Moss Item #373-000, Pin and Spring Assembly? To be honest, it looks like the carb should be removed from the car and this work done on the bench within a large pan. I can see those small parts, powered by the spring going into never-never land. With small C-clips, I use a small jeweler's screwdriver to wedge it out.
