I am looking a picture for what an early tr3 and tr2 used on the back seat gas tank strap to hold the down. I guess the ¼ inch threads on the strap held a stud or a bolt to help hold the seat back seat in place.

I was hoping some of the newer tr2 guys would know. I am thinking an acorn nut on a stud???Ah, but I had a thought now that the hard top bolts might be used there. I had never seen any of these gas tank straps with the nut option on them.

Steve--- peace out

Took me some time to find, but here are a couple from restoration of my early 56 about 15 years ago. Cheers, Mike

Wow thanks guys for digging through your stuff. I can see the utility in putting a bolt or a screw in the back seat and onto the gas tank strap because on my 1958 the back seat would always come loose and slid below those clips on the tub and give the car an unfinished look.

On the 1958 I drilled some 1/8 holes up high on the back seat and pulled the back seat up and back into place

On the 1955, I will probably put some kind of ¼ fine threaded finish bolt, maybe a stud with an acorn nut. That is if I cannot find a picture.

It looks like John car has an early gas tank because the upper bend in the sheet metal is longer than mgedit’s gas tank. I threw away the original gas tank that came with my 1955, so no way for me to totally understand the why of the gas tank straps.

What is kinda funny is the gas tank is the only thing I threw away from the 1955.

The early straps do not work with the replacement bulkhead cover. If you do not have an original to reupholster
ya got trouble.
