New member here. I am a 78 yr. old retiree in California. I have been riding British motorcycles for many years, but I am getting ready to move away from that hobby because of my age. I retired in 2008 from the Operating Engineer's Union. I also have a history in the import auto repair trade. I decided I wanted at Triumph TR-6. I bought mine online out of Florida. It got here in November of 2023. I have been putting it back in order the last 6-7 months. More on that process to follow. I go by Jim or J.D.

Although I bought this car sight unseen, it seems to be pretty original. Only the engine number is later. [A 74 according to what I can find]. The VIN comes back as a 73, and the commisioning plate reads NOV 1972.

I have had some issues to sort out. When I drove it off the transport, it LOOKED pretty good but, its brakes were barely there. It was blowing black smoke and left a puddle of oil were ever I parked it. Half of its headlights were not working, and it was runnning pretty rough.

She is up and running now. It took me 6 month to get title to it. During that time I have sorted the engine, brakes, lights, etc. out. I finally recieved a CalifornIa title thIs week. That is a long story. Maybe later. ...J.D.

Welcome! I had a '74-1/2 TR6 in the same color that I sold to
a guy in the Sacramento area.

The color screams 1970's. Other than a repaint [same color] it is pretty much a unrestored original. It really attracts attention. ...J.D.

A few months ago, I contacted the BMIHT in the U.K. to authenticate my TR-6. Turns out, it is an original, numbers matching car. Made me happy to know it has all its original pieces. The certificate issued indicates it was shipped new to the US in January 1973. ...J.D.

Jim,
Your TR6 looks really clean in the photos. Congratulations on the find. I’m glad you got thru the California DMV issues… Welcome.

That is a stunning car, and good work.
