TR6 Converting to Pertronix - wrong kit?

Hello fellow TR6 electronic ignition folks. I have a 22D Lucas in my '72 and the conversion should be pretty straightforward, but the magnet does not seem to fit. It will not push down to the bottom of the cam. I ordered the kit from Moss (> Pertronix Electronic Ignition, negative ground, 22D6 <).

The Moss description says it's for a 22D6. Maybe the "6" on the end means a different size magnet? Moss didn't have any other kits. And I don't see any different ones on the Pertronix site. Attached are some pics. Do I need to ask Moss about the magnet size? Or am I doing something wrong? Thanks in advance for any advice.

How are the tops of the magnet and the top of the pickup lining up when the magnet is as far down on the shaft as you have been able to push it ?
If they line up, maybe there's a problem with the shaft.

I could be wrong but I don't recall the extra ridges you see on the hex part of the cap - they might have added them to make sure you have a good friction fit? Its meant to be snug. You might investigate carefully trimming the ridges that stick out and see if it pushes on. Emphasis on carefully.

Thanks for the feedback.

Trust me. It won't go down any further because the magnet hole is not large enough to clear the hex on the shaft. The hex shape is inside the magnet and it definitely fits onto the hex shape of the shaft. It's just the hole is only large enough for the top circle part to go through. It's like the hole should be larger. I really don't want to trim it in fear of damaging it. I think I'll call Moss and see what they say.

I had to get up inside the collar with a razor knife to gently clean out some plastic to get it to slide all the way down. I’ve also noticed that the thickness of the top surface of the collar had to be shaved off the bottom of my rotor so that the plunger of the distributor cap was not completely pushed in when installed.

Thought I posted this before but not have hit submit- here is one that fits that I pulled out of my spares - you can see it doesn't have that extra flashing in the center of the hexes.

I also think they put that excess plastic on the center of the flats to be sure of a snug fit on a cam that may be slightly smaller. I trimmed it out and the fit went right down to the inside top surface

OMG. I got it. That excess plastic was bogging it down. I trimmed it slightly and it went on using a little force. Thank you for all of your help!
