TR2/3/3A TR3A Wind Wings are they worth it?

A Wing Wing is clear plastic and clamps to the side edge of the windscreen. It can be swiveled in and out.

Definitely worth having to keep the wind out. I also have the tinted sun visors that clip to the top of the windscreen. They also direct the wind over my head. (y) (y)

As Karl does I have both the wind wings and the top visors. They both help but you still get a lot of wind that comes in under the wind wings thru the cut out in the low door. That wind feels good in the summer but not when it is cold. The top visors I use mostly as sun visors.
I have a friend who made another wind deflector to block that lower wind. I have also seen some home made ones at shows.

I found that they help some, but not a lot. As Charley stated, the wind coming under the wind wings is a bigger issue.
 
Racetorations do trip caps for the top of doors to stop this draft.

I have not found them to be very useful. Had them on and off a couple of times, and currently not using them. They go give a “period correct” kinda look though.

Wind wings definitely help reduce the air blast, whether you're driving a sidescreen TR or a '28 Ford. Nice to have on a long freeway drive. The curved bottom lip on the wings which are sold for TR2/TR3 cars allow the wings to be mounted such that they can be folded inward against the cowling when you want to use the side curtains.

For additional wind blast protection on long drives you can also, of course, attach the sidescreens without putting the top up. Then later you can stow the curtains while you're driving out on the back roads having fun.
 
That's where old American car windwings were the best: they could be positioned either to extract air or turned with the back edge forward to scoop air into the car. I "real" windwings a lot - along with American car foot well ventilation knobs under the dash, which would unleash air right onto your feet righ where you needed it. Who knew a '62 Ford was so technologically advanced?
 
I wouldn't mind if technology stopped once we had AC, Power Steering, and power brakes. If it did, cars would still sell for $5k new, instead of $50k+.
 
I like wind wings on my TR3B. They do help redirect some of the wind. I drive with the top down most of the time, although the wind wings still allow the side curtains and/or top to be used.
